Walls were not impenetrable in DK2 until a later patch, where in MP/skirmish where you could choose it via a checkbox. researching in every level in DK1 made the time crunch aspect more interesting, imo The stun mechanic was irritating and didn't even solve the issue because all you had to do was drop them a bit farther away, instead. they could have made it so you couldn't drop so many minions at a time or some other solution. I prefer challenge and hardships to overcome) Yes, devs took away that things that made your army unstoppable, but I don't want to play the game where I am unstoppable. Gems income were significantly reduced. You could no longer train your creatures to 10 lvl in training room. The only way to breach through the walls were Tremor spell In DK1 you had to research every room on every new level. Lava was the only thing to seprate levels and add strategic element to the maps. Drop n+1 minions that instantly go to the fight, overwhelming even strongest opponents in a second. Because in DK1 you were practically invincible and invasions easily beatable. These little mechanical changes probably turned me away. I think DS2 also made it that when you pick up a handfull of minions to drop them onto an invading force that they would be stunned for a few seconds. I remember quitting when I had to possess a skeleton to be able to walk through some lava or something like that. I played the wheels off DK1 but for whatever reason couold never get into DK2. Thats a good question that I dont have an answer I can pinpoint.
